Peer Tutoring
What is Peer Tutoring?
Peer Tutoring is one-on-one help in technical program courses, when teaching alone does not meet your academic needs. You should seek help from your instructor first; but if additional assistance is needed, a peer tutor may help. Best of all, it’s FREE to LTC students.
Who Can Request a Tutor?
Any student who is experiencing difficulties in a technical course may request a tutor. The instructor must agree with the request and see the academic need for a tutor.
What are the Benefits of Peer Tutoring?
- Become an independent learner.
- Gain confidence in class work and participation.
- Increase your knowledge base; this will help you now and in the future.
How to Request a Tutor:
- See Karla Zahn, Peer Tutor Coordinator in the Library in the Lakeshore building on the Cleveland campus.
- Complete a Request for Tutoring Services form with the instructor's signature.
- Return the completed form to Karla Zahn, Peer Tutor Coordinator.
That's it! You will be contacted when a tutor is found for the technical class you requested.
If you have questions about requesting a tutor, please contact Karla Zahn at 920.693.1172 or karla.zahn@gotoltc.edu.
A tutor match is not guaranteed, but all efforts will be made to find a tutor.
Who Can Tutor?
Someone can tutor in a class previously taken or presently being taken at LTC. Tutors are required to have a 3.0 GPA in the course for which they are tutoring. Tutors are also required to get a recommendation from the instructor verifying the qualifications to tutor.
How to Become a Tutor:
- See Karla Zahn, Peer Tutor Coordinator in the Library in the Lakeshore Building on the Cleveland campus.
- Complete the Request to be Hired as a Tutor form with the instructor's signature.
- Return the completed form to Karla Zahn, Peer Tutor Coordinator.
- Complete peer tutor training (15 minutes).
- Keep track of student attendance with the Peer Tutoring student attendance log.
You will be contacted when there is a request for a tutor in the specified course(s). Tutors are paid $9.94/hr.
