Radiography Mission Statement

Lakeshore Technical College offers a two–year program in Radiography that prepares the graduate for successful completion of the certification examination administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.  The mission of the Radiography Program is to provide outcome–based learning opportunities for initial and continued employment in diagnostic radiology as a Radiographer.  The program is designed to deliver state–of–the–art radiography courses in a responsive and cost effective manner to meet the needs of communities in Wisconsin for qualified and flexible Radiographers.

It is the intent of the program to graduate Radiographers who will function as proficient health care professionals with a concern for technical competency and quality patient care, who utilizes continuing education as a means of maintaining those skills consistent with the state–of–the–art in Radiology. Additionally, it is the program’s goal to instill an awareness of the entire health care team and the role of the radiographer as a member of that team.

Radiography Program Goals

The goals of Lakeshore Technical College’s Radiography program are:

  1. To provide the student with the technical background knowledge related to anatomy, positioning, radiographic technique, radiation protection, film evaluation and patient care that will enable the student to practice as a competent radiographer.
  2. At least 85 percent of the students will complete each progressive technical course in the program.
  3. A minimum of 75 percent of all students beginning the program will be successful in graduating from the program over a rolling five-year period.
  4. The average pass rate on the ARRT certification examination will be 80 percent or higher over a rolling five-year period.
  5. Program graduates will earn their Associate in Applied Science (AAS) within two years of beginning the technical portion of the Radiography program.
  6. A minimum of 85 percent of all graduates will achieve job placement in the Radiology field within six months of graduation; unless they choose to go on to an advanced degree in the Imaging or Radiation Therapy field following completion of the program.
