FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 01/07/08 CLEVELAND, WI– The 10-session course is designed for people who want to start or grow an existing agriculture business and need the skills to test the feasibility of a new business concept. The course information may be applied to many types of agriculture, not just farming. Participants will develop a business plan and learn how to:
LTC Farm Business Instructor Jason Fischer will lead discussions. Fischer has experience as a manager of an agronomy plant and small farm, and he regularly works with 60 farm clients to help them improve their profitability as an agriculture business. Featured guest speakers in the areas of law, accounting, marketing, market research and business financing also will provide real-world knowledge and insight. The course is offered in partnership with the Economic Development Corporation of Manitowoc County, SCORE Counselors to America’s Small Business and the Sheboygan County Chamber of Commerce. Classes will be held Tuesdays, Feb. 19 through April 22, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at LTC Manitowoc, Room 102, 3733 Dewey St. The $350 course fee includes a comprehensive reference book and all class handouts. Each registrant will earn three Continuing Education Units and is entitled to bring one business partner as a guest at no additional cost. Registration deadline is Feb. 1.
