Orion Energy Systems has received a grant for employee training through Lakeshore Technical College. The grant was announced at an Emerging Industries Skills Partnership ceremony at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in Green Bay. The grant is part of a larger fund request made by Bay Area Workforce Development Board. Department of Workforce Development Secretary Roberta Gassman announced the grant as part of Governor Jim Doyle’s Grow Wisconsin – The Next Steps initiative for strengthening the economy. Orion will receive a $37,596 grant to which the company will add an additional investment to complete training for its workers. LTC will work with Orion to develop a training model to increase company productivity by fostering employee creativity and innovation. Class topics will include computer skills and supervisory and leadership training. “Our company has always felt strongly about bringing jobs back to Wisconsin and keeping them here,” said Orion Executive Vice President Michael J. Potts. “A very important factor in achieving either of these is continuing education for our workforce because the skills gained will translate into continuing improvement in products, productivity and leadership. “We are very appreciative to have received the grant and look forward to working with LTC in this endeavor.” Orion is a leading power technology enterprise that designs, manufactures and implements energy management systems.
