| FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 04/04/08
Burger Boat Company President Jim Ruffolo recently spoke at Lakeshore Technical College’s Cleveland campus as part of LTC’s Distinguished Leader Lecture series. LTC students and staff attended the lecture to gain a better understanding of Burger’s needs and vision for the future as well as the workforce characteristics that contribute to the success of the company. Ruffolo spoke about the history of Burger Boat Company, a Manitowoc company that specializes in designing and building custom motor yachts. He commended Burger employees for the commitment, competence and creativity they put into their work efforts. He said that because Burger Boat Company is one of the few shipbuilders in the United States that still builds custom yachts, the company will shape the future of the industry and continue to attract highly skilled employees. Ruffolo shared advice with the LTC students about ways they can become valuable employees and find success in their careers. He recommended they show leadership skills without reservation and have a positive attitude. He also advised the students to share their knowledge with co-workers to help everyone grow in their jobs but at the same time be humble and continue to learn. Ruffolo also encouraged the students to take ownership of their own destinies. He told the students to benefit the employer by applying what they have learned in school and through life experience and the employer will compensate them for that proper use of knowledge. He also said the application of knowledge will take them from where they are to where they want to go. LTC’s Distinguished Leader Lecture series brings outstanding Lakeshore area representatives to the campus to talk about their organization’s efforts and the impact on the community. Ruffolo’s lecture was the eighth in the speaker series. Previous speakers include Dan Bonk of Aurora Healthcare, Mark Rhyan of Sargento Foods Inc., Manitowoc Mayor Kevin Crawford, Michael Potts of Orion Energy Systems, Doug Quick of Lakeside Foods, Laura Kohler of Kohler Company and Terry Growcock of the Manitowoc Company.About Lakeshore Technical College Serving a 200,500-resident population in east central Wisconsin, LTC operates a main campus in Cleveland; additional learning sites at LTC Manitowoc and LTC Sheboygan; outreach centers at area high schools in Kiel, Mishicot, Plymouth, Random Lake, Reedsville, and Two Rivers; and 27 distance learning sites.
