What is the date and time of
the ceremony?
The ceremony will begin at 2 p.m.
on Saturday, May 10, 2008.
Where will the ceremony be held?
Outside in the east parking lot
on the Lakeshore Technical College Cleveland Campus.
How many guests can I bring to
the ceremony?
There is no limit or restriction
if the ceremony is held outside.
Are tickets necessary to attend
the ceremony?
No. We try to accommodate all
guests if the ceremony is held outside.
What happens if there is bad
weather?
The graduation ceremony will move
indoors to the gym. Graduates will be seated in the gym. Each graduate will
receive1 ticket with their cap and gown to be used for guest seating available
in the gym on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional guests will be seated
in viewing rooms around campus and watch via closed-circuit TV.
How do I find out the location
in case of inclement weather?
The message on the campus answering
service at 693-1825 will state the location along with a posting on the LTC
website at gotoltc.edu.
If the ceremony is outside, are
there any viewing arrangements for inside?
Yes.
Who are the speakers for the
ceremony?
The guest business speaker for
this year is Tom Petri. The guest student speaker is Keith Muellenbach, a graduate
of the Mechanical Design program.
Do I need to bring a chair?
Chairs and bleachers are provided
for graduates and guests.
Can I park in the east lot (staff
lot)?
No. There will be an area for handicapped drop-off only. Shuttle transportation will be provided from the student lots to the east lot and back to the parking lots after the ceremony.
What special accommodations are
available for disabilities?
There will be a parking drop-off
location for guests with disabilities. Only vehicles with a handicap
permit will be allowed to park in the east lot. For further accommodations,
contact LTC’s Student Records Office at 920.693.1888.
Can guests reserve seats?
There is no reserved seating. It
is on a first-come, first-served basis.
How long will the ceremony last?
We anticipate the ceremony taking
1 ½ hours.
Can I take pictures?
Yes, you can step forward and
take pictures of your special graduates.
Is child care provided during
the ceremony?
No.
Graduates
When and where is graduation
practice?
Graduation practice will be held
at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 9, beginning in the Gym. If the weather permits,
we will also be moving outside.
Must I attend graduation practice?
We encourage all students to attend
practice. This will allow for things to run smoothly on graduation day.
What do I wear?
Dress appropriately for the weather. The
gowns are thin and see-through.
When should I arrive on the day
of graduation?
Graduates need to begin checking
in at 12:30 p.m. in Room L204 located on the second floor of the Lakeshore
Building adjacent to the elevator.
When do I get my honor medallion
or PTK stole?
These will be distributed at the
time of check-in.
When will I know if I am getting
an honor medallion?
GPAs will be ready by the time
of check-in and are figured on program grades only. A GPA of 3.400 or higher
is required to receive honors.
Where do I go after checking
in?
Signs for each program by division
will be placed on the walls around the upper level of the Lakeshore Building. You
will need to find your program sign and line up alphabetically within your
program. Light refreshments will be available in Room L222 between 12:30 and
1:30.
Do I need to wear a cap and gown
during the ceremony?
Yes, it is required. Contact Student
Records if you have not yet ordered your gown through the LTC Bookstore. Tip: To
remove the wrinkles from your gown, spray it lightly with water and put in
the dryer for 5 minutes.
When and where do I get my cap
and gown?
Caps and gowns are available for
pickup in the LTC Bookstore beginning April 30, 2008.
What side does my tassel go on?
It starts on the right and moves
to the left after ceremony.
How do we march out after the
ceremony?
Graduates will be marched out
by the faculty representatives. Guests will disburse on their own following
the graduates.
Will flowers be available for
purchase again?
Yes, carnations and roses will
be available on the day of graduation for guest purchase.
Do I need to return my cap and
gown?
No, these are yours to keep as
part of your student fees.
Do I receive my diploma on graduation
day?
No. You will receive an empty
diploma cover. You will receive your diploma by July 7, 2008, for May graduates
and September 8, 2008, for August graduates. It will be mailed to the address
we have on file for you. You will not receive your diploma if you have an outstanding
balance or hold on your account.
Post Ceremony
Is there a reception following
the ceremony?
Yes. There will be a reception
in the Cafeteria and deck area following the ceremony. Light refreshments will
be served.
Is there transportation from
the parking lot to the ceremony?
A shuttle bus will be available
to take guests from the ceremony to the parking lots.
Professional Photography
Who takes pictures during the
ceremony?
Empire Photography is hired to
take pictures for your graduation ceremony. They will be contacting you via
e-mail with a proof approximately 4 weeks after the ceremony. You are
under no obligation to purchase.
Is the ceremony videotaped?
Yes. It is available in VHS or
DVD format by ordering online. The cost is $10 ($15
if being mailed).
