Students’ Rights and Responsibilities

As a financial aid recipient, you have the right:

  1. To ask questions and receive accurate answers that will assist in understanding how your aid package was determined and prepared.
  2. To expect that your financial information will remain confidential and will not be released without your written permission.
  3. To equitable and consistent treatment.
  4. To be treated fairly and with respect.

Financial aid students at LTC also have certain responsibilities.  I understand that it is my responsibility to:

  1. Complete and return all forms and documentation required by the LTC financial aid office accurately and in a timely manner.
  2. Review my awards that I will receive after all forms are received and reviewed.  To view the status of your awards you can go online to My LTC, and login.
  3. Know and understand the requirements of each type of aid I am eligible for and using at LTC.
  4. Not receive financial aid from 2 schools at the same time.
  5. Use my financial aid received solely for educational purposes.
  6. Inform the Financial Aid Office of any changes in my enrollment status, financial status, or if I am receiving any outside scholarships or funding.
  7. Maintain satisfactory academic progress.
  8. Be enrolled and attending courses in an approved program to receive financial aid.
  9. Repay all or apportion of aid I received if I withdrawn or drop out of classes.
  10. Register with the Selective Service if I am a male between the ages of 18 and 26.
  11. Renew my financial aid application (FAFSA) for each academic year.
  12. Not be in default of my student loans.
  13. Pay all charges incurred at LTC even if grants/loans do not come through.
  14. To register for late starting classes by the census date if I want the credits to be included for financial aid eligibility.

I understand that Lakeshore Technical College may:

  1. Cancel all or any portion of my financial aid if any irregularities are verified.
  2. Void awards if and when incorrect information is revealed on any application for financial aid.
  3. Change or revise awards based on enrollment or if funding levels are changed.
