Community-Based Residential Facility (CBRF) Caregiver
Technical Certificate
19-575-4
About the Program
The Community-Based Residential Facility (CBRF) Caregiver certificate
is composed of six modules which meet the requirements established by the Wisconsin
Department of Health and Family Services–Bureau of Quality Assurance for CBRF
workers. Module topics include first aid and procedures to alleviate choking,
standard precautions, medications, client specific training, dietary training,
and fire safety training.
Career Outlook
Employment opportunities are expected to increase as life expectancies rise,
and as aging children are less able to care for their parents and rely more on
long-term care facilities. Advances in medical technology will continue to improve
the survival rate of severely ill and injured patients, who will then need extensive
therapy and care. New technologies will make it possible to identify and treat
conditions that were previously not treatable.
Schedule
LTC offers testing services for the following modules three times per month:
Dietary, Medications, Fire Safety, Standard Precautions, First Aid, and Client
Rights.
Students prepare by watching the videos, filling out the workbook and reading
handouts. Upon completion, students register to test on that particular module.
Qualified registered nurses complete the testing.
