The first thing you need to know when you've lost your job:
LTC is here to help get you back to work.

Talk to us about building up your employability skills or discovering a new career track.

You're not alone.

At LTC we've seen hundreds of people just like you come through our doors after losing their jobs. Some have stayed for a short time, just to take a computer class or brush up on their math skills. Others have stuck around for a longer stretch and committed to one- or two-year career training. One thing they all have in common is that they leave with a more optimistic view of their future.

Whether you turn to LTC to increase your employability in your current career or to switch careers all together, LTC has numerous services and programs for unemployed workers like you. We are ready with straightforward advice and helpful answers that apply to your unique situation. To get started, consider these first steps:

#1 Visit your local Job Center and meet with a Workforce Investment Act case manager
WIA is the place to start. The first step all laid off workers should take is to meet with a WIA case manager to get a comprehensive overview of services available. Your WIA case manager will determine if you are eligible for training assistance.

#2 Meet with LTC Education Specialists at the Sheboygan County and Manitowoc County Job Centers
The Job Centers of Manitowoc County and Sheboygan County house LTC Manitowoc and LTC Sheboygan. LTC education services specialists are available to meet with you and offer program and course information, career information, and admission assistance including financial aid advising.

#3 Apply for Financial Aid at LTC
Your WIA case manager will determine if you are eligible for training assistance. Your case manager will also make sure you complete a Free Application for Financial Student Aid (FAFSA) to give you an idea of the resources you can tap into to help pay for LTC classes. The Financial Aid office at LTC can also assist you with understanding aid programs and scholarship opportunities.

#4 Talk with LTC Counselors about career counseling and assessments
LTC counselors can meet with you at the Job Center sites or on the LTC Cleveland campus. These counselors can help you set your career direction while considering your personal goals and schedule.

LTC has something for you if you're building on your current career
There are so many opportunities for unemployed adults to acquire more marketable skills at LTC. You can work with other adults in small group settings to accomplish such goals as completing high school or improving reading, writing, math, and word processing skills. We'll also help you bolster your work-world survival skills by giving you tips on how to interview, the best way to fill out a job application, and other job-hunting tips.

LTC is here to help you launch a new career
Sometimes the hardest part of making a career change is the first step. We can help make taking that bold, first move a little easier by giving you the information you need to make an informed decision. We offer avenues of assistance including counseling, career assessment, financial aid advising, enrollment assistance, academic skill review, computer keyboarding/word processing, and personal development classes.

Once you're here we'll help you every step of the way.
